The F150 Lariat for Sale is the premium version of the locally remade 2023 Ford F-150 full-size ladder-frame 4×4 dual-cab range that launches here in November. It’s easy to distinguish from the cheaper XLT model by lashings of chrome, including on the wheels and running boards (with integrated fog lights), plus chrome detailing on the mirrors, door handles and grille. The Lariat also adds a power tailgate release, front parking sensors and a rear view camera system.

Like the XLT, the Lariat can be ordered with either a short or long wheelbase (SWB/LWB). We’re testing the SWB version with a full-size alloy spare and spray-in bedliner. There’s a class IV trailer hitch and a power sliding rear window. Inside, the leather seats have heating and ventilation and can be adjusted for height. You also get ambient cabin lighting, a 12-inch infotainment touchscreen and a remote engine start. Options on the Lariat include the Mid 501A package with upgraded mirrors, remote tailgate release and more towing views, and the Luxury 502A package which adds LED headlights, power-deployable running boards, front bucket seats and heated outboard rear seats (SuperCrew).
One of the F-150’s biggest selling points is its strong and smooth V6 turbodiesel. It delivers 298kW/768Nm — unlike the RAM 1500 and Chevy Silverado, it doesn’t have a V8 option — and is matched to a smooth-shifting 10-speed automatic. It makes a likeable artificial growl when pushed, but it’s quieter at highway speeds. Ford Sync and its big screen work well together to deliver a good blend of screens and buttons.
