How do you test for the presence of SO2?
Our SO2 detector uses electrochemical technology to detect and alert personnel of any SO2 concentrations above pre-set safety levels. The sensor converts the SO2 in the air into an electronic signal that is monitored by the onboard microprocessor. When the signal exceeds the alarm level, an audio and visual warning will occur to ensure personnel are protected from exposure.
The probe is assembled from functional Cy-CDs that exhibit ratiometric near-infrared fluorescence response to SO2 and its derivatives. It was successfully applied for quantitative detection of SO2 derivatives in agricultural crop leaf tissues that were assimilated by stomata from SO2-polluted air. The result showed that this SO2 detector has superior sensitivity, selectivity, and stability to other analytical methods for gas sensing such as colorimetry.
SO2 is a common pollutant in industrial environments and a significant contributor to the formation of acid rain.
